New
Apprentice Placement and Application Process
Began September 1, 2008
The UAW-GM Skilled Trades and Apprentice Committee have updated the Apprentice
Placement and Application process for the first time since 1987. The new process
will be web-based and include a new series of tests and a revised interview
process.
Beginning September 1, 2008, all non-seniority (non-GM employee) candidates that
are currently on a “selectable apprentice list” will be removed from all
Vehicle Manufacturing, Stamping and Powertrain sites (exceptions include:
Milford, Design Engineering Services, Grand Blanc, and Flint Tool & Die).
Candidates will be allowed to reapply for the test once under this new process.
Interested candidates should
contact their local Apprentice Committee to reapply or for more information.
Please note:
Non-seniority candidates affected by this change will not be notified. GM employees who have family or friends
that will be affected by this
change are asked to communicate this information to them using this
announcement. The Apprentice
Committee will be taking Request for Information (RFI’s) on the first Tuesday
of the month from 8:00 a.m. until 4:00 p.m. starting in January of 2009 for
non-seniority candidates at the union hall.
