FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

ORION ASSEMBLY AND UAW 5960 HOST THE G6 KICKOFF EVENT

On August 4, 2004, UAW Local 5960 and Orion Assembly held the biggest party ever at the Orion Assembly Center.  The event began when the first Pontiac G6 rolled off the assembly line, led by Orion’s own bagpiper, Allan Childers, and the UAW Local 5960 Color Guard.  Speeches were presented by Pontiac General Manager, Jim Bunnell, and the G6 Vehicle Line Executive, Gene Stefanyshyn.  Orion Plant Manager, Jamie Hresko, addressed the audience, as did UAW Local 5960 Chairman, Lee Jones, and UAW Local 5960 President, Pat Sweeney.  The event moved outside where Continental Food Services roasted ten full-sized pigs with all the fixings.  The UAW/GM NASCAR display was open for everyone to attend.  Orion’s Medical Department hosted a Health Fair that screened for disease and shared information.  A “live” music stage was assembled to showcase the talents of Orion employees, and every Orion employee received a Pontiac G6 jacket.  This was an outstanding day for everyone and a fantastic way to kick off the Pontiac G6.  The Report Staff would like to tip their hats to the Orion Assembly and UAW Local 5960 leadership for having the vision to host such an event.
